Ruby on Rails

Ruby on Rails, an open source initiative, was first made public in late 2004 and was shortly followed by a 1.0 release in 2005. Since then Rails' rise in popularity has been nothing short of meteoric.

Rails was developed using Ruby, a purely object oriented and dynamic language. Conceived in Japan in the mid 90s, it has been steadily gaining popularity amongst developers. Rails, however, has single handedly popularised Ruby; bringing it to the forefront of the IT industry; with support and investment pouring in from traditional enterprise suppliers such as Sun, IBM and Microsoft.

Why Ruby on Rails?

Ruby provides language constructs that naturally encourages succinctness in code. At all stages we are encouraged to DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself). This leads to more re-usable, cleaner and more stable code.

Rails provides built in support for unit testing to encourage Agile based development. Further aids such as Log4R logging, MVC structure and stack based exception reporting make it much easier for developers to track down bugs and realise a website as quickly and painlessly as possible.

What Does this Mean to You?

In short, using Ruby on Rails, we can develop your web site quicker, cheaper, better and faster than would a PHP, J2EE, ASP.Net. or Coldfusion developer (or team of developers).
